One Person Hospitalized After Big-Rig Crash in Redding
On Thursday, March 4, 2021, one person was sent to the hospital with unspecified injuries after a big-rig crash in Redding. The crash reportedly happened at a highway location within the city and involved just one vehicle. At this time, updates on the condition of the injured party remain unavailable and the accident is under California Highway Patrol (CHP) investigations.
Crash Details
The accident happened on the southbound side of Highway Interstate 5, close to the Pit River Bridge. According to the CHP traffic incident page, a big-rig overturned onto its side, blocking southbound highway lanes. However, details about what led up to the accident have not been reported. Following the accident, witnesses reported seeing the truck begin smoking, and fire crews were reportedly called to the scene.
When emergency officials reached the accident location, they discovered that one occupant of the truck had suffered serious injuries, and medics placed the injured party in an ambulance. The individual was transported to the Mercy Medical Center to receive emergency care.
Investigation of Big-Rig Crash in Redding
The highway remained partially closed while responders worked at the scene and crews worked to remove the wreckage from the highway. At this time, police conducted preliminary investigations of the site but had not confirmed any causal factors at the time of reporting. Frequently, big-rig collisions happen due to things that the trucker is not able to control such as damaged highway pavement, defective truck parts, or other problems.
Burn Injuries
Accidents that involve fires can cause burn injuries, which are massively destructive to bodily tissue. Not only are burn injuries painful, but they can require a lot of medical treatment and involve longer-than-average recovery periods. While there are many excellent treatment options for burn survivors, the necessary care can be prohibitively expensive. However, these costs can often be covered through personal injury claims.
Truck Accidents, Personal Injury Claims, and Quick Action
Big-rigs are huge and, in the state of California, can legally weigh as much as 80,000 pounds. With so much mass, these trucks aren’t just difficult to drive and control, but they are also much more likely than smaller vehicles to cause severe trauma in the event of a crash.
Trucking companies are very aware that their vehicles pose such a major threat and usually think of accidents as a normal risk they need to run in order to operate their businesses. For this reason, trucking companies are normally prepared to put up an aggressive defense against financial liability and will take action as soon as an accident occurs. Sadly, this can make it very hard for injured parties to obtain the payments that they need to cover their medical bills, lost income, and other damages.
To prevent trucking companies from disclaiming responsibility for your accident injuries, it’s vital to reach out to a Redding truck accident lawyer as soon as you are able. When attorneys are able to begin working on trucking accidents right away, they can be more effective while defending your right to claiming fair compensation from negligent parties.
