Big Lagoon Crash Sends One to Hospital

California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that a Big Lagoon crash sent one individual to the hospital on Tuesday, January 28, 2020. Police indicated that the accident involved a single vehicle and happened on a local highway. Two people were reportedly inside the vehicle at the time of the crash, and the passenger suffered injuries while the driver was unharmed. Specific details on the nature of the passenger’s injuries were unavailable, but medical officials reported that the individual was expected to fully recover.

Crash Details

The crash occurred at about 2:30 p.m. on Highway 101 just north of the small community of Big Lagoon. A red Subaru SUV was traveling north on the highway when it entered a curve. As the vehicle navigated the curve, it traveled off the road for unknown reasons and struck a roadside sign. After striking the sign, the SUV careened into a patch of redwood trees.

Investigation

CHP has reported that they have officers actively looking into possible causes of the collision. Investigators have not mentioned what factors, if any, they believe may have been involved, but have stated that drugs and alcohol did not play a role in the accident.

Single-vehicle accidents are very common and can be caused by a number of factors. Many of these accident factors, such as defective vehicle parts or roadway hazards can’t be controlled by drivers. In these cases, vehicle manufacturers or government entities may be considered at-fault and held financially responsible.

Common Accident Injuries

Car accidents involve a lot of force, and even though vehicles are usually designed to prevent injuries, collisions can still cause serious trauma. Some of the more common serious injuries that people suffer during vehicle accidents include:

  • Spinal cord trauma
  • Traumatic brain injuries
  • Chest injuries
  • Bone fractures
  • Cervical sprains

All of these injuries can range in severity from minor to severe, and even relatively minor injuries can have a major impact on your day-to-day life. Many people who suffer accident injuries have to undergo multiple medical procedures in addition to physical therapy. During the recovery process, it may also be difficult or impossible for the crash survivor to perform their job, resulting in a serious loss of income.

Getting Help

Recovering can be difficult, especially if you are unsure of how you will be able to afford your medical expenses. Fortunately, crash survivors are often able to get help by reaching out to a local Eureka personal injury lawyer and filing a claim against negligent parties. In many cases, survivors are not only able to recover payments for medical bills, but for other damages like lost income, personal suffering, property damage, and more.

However, these claims can be complicated, and it’s always best to have advice from a professional before moving forward. Because injury attorneys typically offer free phone consultations, there’s nothing to lose by reaching out for help and getting the information you need to start the process of recovering compensation.
