Details on the Big Rig Crash on Highway 160 in Oakley That Left One Injured
CHP traffic officers revealed in a preliminary investigation report that a sedan was involved in a crash with a semi-truck. Both vehicles were said to have crashed in the center divider and the impact of the collision allegedly caused the big rig to overturn onto its side.
Both sides of the freeway were shut down as the overturned tractor-trailer was blocking the roadway and leaking unspecified liquid onto the highway. Drivers in the area were urged to use an alternate route through a SigAlert issued by CHP that westbound SR-4 to northbound Highway 160 was shut down due to the truck accident in Oakley.
One party was transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries described as minor. Information on what caused the big rig crash was not immediately released by officials due to ongoing investigation.
Things You Should Know About Personal Injury Claims for Truck Accidents
In California, the roads are filled with large commercial trucks that transport goods throughout the state. While these vehicles are crucial to the economy of the golden state, they may present unique dangers because of their overwhelming weight and size. When a passenger vehicle is involved in a traffic collision with a semi-truck, the occupants of the smaller car are likely to suffer serious injuries that may result in life-changing consequences. In some extreme cases, they may result in the loss of a loved one. After getting into a truck accident, it is essential for injured parties to receive the fair compensation they need to get their lives back on track.
To recover compensation in a personal injury claim for a commercial truck accident, it must be determined who was at fault. However, this may vary from case to case as negligent truck drivers may not be the only ones to blame for the incident. For example, trucking companies may be held liable for the actions of their employees, and they may be deemed negligent as well. While an independent investigation of a big rig crash is crucial in a personal injury case, there is a wide array of potential causes, state and federal violations, and types of negligence that an Oakley truck accident attorney must evaluate to determine who can be held liable.
Since there are many parties that may be held accountable for a commercial truck accident and given the high stakes involved in such cases when serious injury or wrongful death is involved, the claims process may be challenging. That is why it is essential to retain legal counsel right away to ensure your case has the experience, skills, and resources it needs to reach a favorable resolution. An experienced accident attorney may evaluate the facts and circumstances of the case along with the economic and non-economic damages incurred to arrive at a fair value for the claim. This is crucial to negotiating a fair settlement with the insurance company, and when the insurer fails to make a reasonable offer, litigation is often necessary. Working with an injury attorney that has years of experience negotiating and litigating truck accident cases may make a world of difference in the outcome of your claim.
