One Hurt in Red Bluff Pedestrian Crash
On Tuesday, July 14, 2020, one person was seriously hurt during a Red Bluff pedestrian crash. The Red Bluff Police Department (RBPD) reported the collision, stating that it happened in the morning and involved one vehicle as well as a single pedestrian. The injured woman, identified as a 41-year-old resident of Red Bluff, was reportedly flown to a hospital in Redding via helicopter following the accident. Updates on her condition remain unavailable at this time.
Crash Details
RBPD stated that the crash occurred at about 7:00 a.m. in the parking lot of the St. Elizabeth Community Hospital between Interstate 5 and Highway 99W on the very southern edge of Red Bluff. The pedestrian had been walking outside of the Outpatient Imaging Center when she was struck by an eastbound vehicle. Police have since identified the driver of the vehicle as a 59-year-old man from Redding.
Response
After RBPD received a call about the crash, they sent out a team of accident responders. When emergency officials arrived, they found that the pedestrian had suffered severe injuries and called for a helicopter ambulance. The pedestrian was reportedly the only individual who suffered injuries as a result of the incident.
Investigation
RBPD has indicated that its officers are currently investigating possible factors involved in this crash. However, investigating police haven’t stated what they suspect could have caused the accident. Often, there are multiple factors involved in pedestrian collisions, and, in some cases, these include things not under driver control like a defective car part or a hazardous road.
Pedestrian Injuries
Pedestrians are very likely to suffer serious trauma during auto accidents, even if the crash is relatively minor. Unlike vehicle drivers, pedestrians don’t have any safety features to protect them and are liable to suffer a wide range of injuries, including:
- Leg fractures
- Chest injuries
- Traumatic brain injuries
- Lacerations
- Road rash
- Spinal cord injuries
- Internal trauma
All of these types of injuries have the potential to dramatically affect your life and can take a long time to recover from. For many, being injured isn’t only a painful and stressful experience, but it can cause a number of financial problems related to lost income, medical costs, and more.
Calling an Attorney
One of the most important steps that you can take to recover personally and financially following a vehicle accident is to reach out to an expert injury attorney. A Red Bluff personal injury lawyer can investigate your accident to find out if any negligence was involved and then help you to file injury claims against at-fault parties. By filing these claims, many crash survivors can obtain full compensation for their damages.
