Auburn Resident Killed During Placer County Vehicle Accident
One person was fatally injured during a Placer County vehicle accident that took place on Tuesday, October 27, 2020. Local officials have since reported that the decedent was a 22-year-old resident of the city of Auburn. The young man was reportedly the only individual involved in this tragic accident. California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the collision happened in a rural highway location in the very early morning and remains under investigation.
Crash Information
Police indicated that the incident happened at about 2:35 a.m. on State Route 193 at Coloma Road just south of Auburn. The accident was first discovered by CHP officers who found that a 2002 Dodge Ram pickup truck had overturned and was lying between the on and off-ramps heading toward I-80. Police reportedly discovered the driver shortly after, locating him just west of the truck. Tragically, the driver had already passed away when responders reached the scene.
After conducting preliminary investigations of the scene, officers have reported that the Dodge was likely exiting SR 192 when, for unknown reasons, the driver lost control. As the truck navigated the right hand-curve of the off-ramp, the vehicle traveled off of the outside edge of the road, entering the gore point and overturning as a result. As the vehicle rolled, the driver was ejected through a vehicle window.
Investigation
Officers involved with the ongoing investigation into this crash have stated that they do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in causing the incident. So far, police have not indicated any likely causes in particular. Often, solo-vehicle collisions are more complicated than they appear and may involve multiple causal factors. Furthermore, a number of the most common auto accident causes aren’t under driver control. Defective truck parts or damaged pavement can greatly contribute to serious accidents.
Collisions like these ones pose a serious challenge to investigating police officers. Because there are no surviving individuals who were involved in the incident, it’s impossible for officers to question vehicle occupants about what occurred. Sadly, this lack of information can mean that important evidence is never uncovered, leaving families unable to claim fair compensation through a wrongful death claim. The best way to prevent this is to have a wrongful death lawyer privately investigate the crash.
Rollover Accidents and Liability Claims
When a vehicle overturns, especially a heavy vehicle such as a pickup truck or SUV, there’s a serious risk of roof crush injuries. These types of injuries happen when the roof of a vehicle gives way during a collision and can be very dangerous. Often, the reason that the roof of the vehicle crushed was that it was not designed properly or it was constructed from weak materials. In both of these cases, the auto manufacturer is frequently liable to pay for damages caused by the crash.
However, in order to obtain compensation for roof crush cases, your attorney needs to be able to investigate the wrecked vehicle. For this reason, it’s important to preserve the vehicle as evidence following a serious rollover accident.
