One Person Killed in Chico Pedestrian Collision
On Friday, September 11, 2020, one person tragically sustained fatal trauma as the result of a Chico pedestrian collision. According to details from the Chico Police Department (CPD), the crash happened on a local road early on in the night and involved a single vehicle in addition to the pedestrian. The Butte County Sheriff’s Department is currently withholding the decedent’s identity. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Crash Information
CPD reported that the crash occurred at approximately 9:15 p.m. at the intersection of La Linda Lane and Nord Avenue. Details about the specific circumstances of the crash have not yet been reported. However, officers reported that when medical responders reached the scene of the accident, they found that the pedestrian was unresponsive and had sustained critical injuries.
The pedestrian was placed on an ambulance and rushed to a local hospital. Doctors attempted to stabilize the pedestrian. However, the individual sadly passed away while in hospital custody.
Investigation
CPD has reported that their Major Accident Investigation Team will be handling the investigation into this collision. While investigators attempt to determine what caused the crash, no suspected factors have been mentioned.
