One Seriously Hurt in Shasta Lake Rollover
One person was injured during a car accident that took place near Shasta Lake on Friday, April 26, 2019. The accident happened in the morning on a local highway and left one person with major trauma. Officers of the Shasta area California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that they believe the collision may have been caused by a driver who was under the influence of either drugs or alcohol. Updates on the condition of the injured person have not been provided by medical officials.
Crash Details
According to reports, the accident happened on the southbound side of Highway Interstate 5. So far, very little information about the accident has been released. However, officers did say that a black sedan was involved in the collision and at least one vehicle overturned during the accident. Photos of the crash site show debris scattered all across both southbound lanes of the highway.
Emergency responders were called to the accident location directly after the crash took place. Officials said that responders discovered at least one seriously injured person who was transported by ambulance to the nearest hospital for emergency medical care.
Investigation
This accident is currently under investigation by CHP. While officers have said that they suspect intoxicated driving may have been a factor, a full report on possible causes of the accident has not been released. Highway accidents can be caused by a number of common factors such as reckless driving behavior, exceeding speed limits, faulty vehicle products, medical problems, and more.
Rollover Accidents
Data from Safercar.gov indicates that rollovers have a higher rate of fatal injury than other kinds of collisions. Out of about nine million passenger vehicle accidents that occur every year in the United States, only around two percent involve an overturned vehicle. However, rollover accidents made up almost 35 percent of vehicle accidents involving a fatal injury. Furthermore, statistics show that rollovers are almost twice as likely to involve alcohol than most accidents.
Rollovers can be dangerous for a few reasons. Firstly, vehicle rollovers can easily cause occupants to be ejected from their car, leaving them with no protection from other vehicles or objects. Rollovers can also be dangerous because of weak vehicle roofs, which can cause crush injuries if they are not strong enough to keep occupants safe.
Calling a Lawyer
After a serious crash, many people are unsure of whether or not they should contact a lawyer. In many cases, people simply don’t think that they will be able to claim any payments for their injuries. However, it is always a good idea to speak with a Shasta Lake personal injury lawyer as soon as you can after being involved in a crash. Most attorneys will give you a free phone consultation during which you can get the answers you need and advice about recovering financially after your accident.
