Orangevale Fleeing Driver Reportedly Struck Bicyclist Exiting School Parking Lot
The suspect vehicle was exiting the school parking lot when the crash occurred. Paramedics with the Sacramento Fire Department determined that the bicycle rider had suffered injuries in the crash. Bicyclist Dangers on the Roads
Bicyclists often encounter various dangers on the road, particularly when sharing it with motor vehicle drivers. Some common accident scenarios include:
- A motorist who entered the bike lane hit a bicyclist without checking while making a right-hand turn.
- A speeding driver collided with a cyclist because they could not slow down in time to prevent the accident.
- Crosswalks can be hazardous for bicyclists, with concerns like motorists running red lights, disregarding stop signs, or making turns without yielding to cyclists.
The Importance of Filing Your Claim Early
California has a two-year statute of limitations to file a personal injury claim if the Orangevale fleeing driver is identified. Although you can wait until the two years have almost expired, that isn’t advised. The reason is that witnesses to your collision may move away, and evidence may disappear within that time period. That makes it much more challenging to provide evidence to support your claim.
What Compensation Can I Recover by Filing a Personal Injury Claim?
Some damages can be recovered in a personal injury claim following an Orangevale fleeing driver collision. Medical expenses caused by the accident are necessary because those bills can mount quickly. In addition, severe injuries may require longer-term hospitalization and recovery.
Accidents Involving Bicycles and Liability
You may wonder if the driver will be held responsible if you are hit by a car while walking or riding your bike. You may be able to hold the driver accountable for any injuries you suffer if they were negligent. Since drivers are obligated to give someone in a crosswalk the right of way, they may be liable for your injuries if they hit you while crossing the street.
If a car has hit you while riding your bike or walking, you should seek legal assistance as soon as possible. An experienced accident lawyer examining your case will help you decide what to do next. Furthermore, they can assist you in recovering compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering damages.
