Orangevale Man Facing Charges
Wesley Martin Bennett, 61, faces weapons and vandalism charges.
Bennett was armed with a shotgun and barricaded inside an Orangevale house on Saturday, September 26, 2015.
He came out of the home with his hands in the air, according to Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.
Initial Reports of Shots Fired
Officers got reports at 9:00 p.m. that a man was firing shots in the air from a shotgun near the 6000 block of Main Avenue.
One bullet hit an unoccupied car, but no one was injured.
When officers arrived on scene, Bennett had barricaded himself in a home in the area.
A SWAT team was called to the scene.
Location of Crime Scene
Main Avenue had to be blocked off between Vallejo Drive and Binning Court.
Neighbors were given a shelter-in-place order.
That order was lifted after Bennett was taken into custody.
Suspect Booked and Facing Charges
Bennett is now behind bars in the Sacramento County Jail.
It is unclear why Bennett was firing the shotgun.
