County Road 99 Location of Major Injury Intersection Crash
A major injury intersection crash involving two vehicles occurred in Orland, south of Corning, on October 26. The accident happened at the intersections of westbound County Road 99 and CR 3 around 5:35 p.m. One vehicle was found by California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers overturned in a ditch.
Fault Being Determined in Major Injury Intersection Crash
The accident did not block the roadway. Both vehicles sustained major damage. One exhibited damage on its passenger side. At least one person was taken to the hospital with what were described as major injuries. An investigation is underway by CHP traffic crash officers to determine the cause of the crash and to assign fault.
Traffic collisions are surprisingly common along country roads, especially at intersections. Those traveling along county roads tend to relax, thinking that travel is safer because of the lower traffic. Some of the issues facing those driving on rural roads include:
- A vehicle may pull out of a side road in front of another motorist, which gives them no time to stop and avoid a major injury intersection crash
- Slow-moving vehicles and farming machinery may suddenly appear around a curve or over a hill
- Drivers who are intoxicated may take rural roads when possible to take advantage of a smaller police presence
- Drivers on rural roads are more likely to speed and cross the centerline due to lessened traffic
- Motorists on rural roads, as well as their passengers, are less likely to use seat restraints
- Passing another vehicle on a double-yellow line or on a hill or curve without a clear view ahead leads to a major injury intersection crash
How Do I Find Out if I Can Place a Claim to Recover Damages?
When you are involved in an injury or fatality accident, police arrive to investigate the crash and file a report. An injury lawyer can review your case and tell you whether you have the right to file a claim and recover compensation. The basis for a personal injury claim is negligence. In other words, another driver or entity was negligent, which caused your injuries.
Evidence That Supports Your Injury Claim
The lawyer investigates your accident to gather evidence that supports your injury claim. Investigation techniques often include interviewing any witnesses to the crash, performing accident reconstruction, looking for area surveillance cameras and others. Once the evidence has been compiled, the injury lawyers take over and use it to build a strong case. Your lawyer can handle negotiations with the negligent party’s insurance company for you.
Recoverable Personal Injury Damages
Damages that can be recovered in a personal injury claim include all of your medical costs associated with the major injury intersection crash, lost wages and compensation for your pain and suffering. It’s your lawyer’s job to protect your rights and work toward obtaining the maximum compensation possible for you. In this way, you can concentrate on recovering from your injuries and know your claim is being handled.
