Oroville Man Killed During Marysville Area Crash
On Wednesday, October 14, an Oroville man tragically lost his life during an area auto accident. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident happened north of Marysville and involved two passenger vehicles. County officials have since identified the decedent as 36-year-old Chue Kue. In addition to Kue, two other people were injured and hospitalized as a result of this crash.
Collision Details
CHP reported that the crash happened at around 11:23 p.m. on Highway 70 in the area of Chandler Road. Kue was riding in the front passenger seat of a 2007 Toyota Yaris being driven by his 27-year-old family member.
The Yaris was heading northbound toward Oroville when, for unknown reasons, it began to drift onto the eastbound shoulder. After the car entered the shoulder, the driver apparently attempted to re-enter the highway by turning left. However, the vehicle overcorrected, crossing over the median of the highway and entering the path of an oncoming 2008 Buick Lacrosse.
According to CHP, the Buick crashed into the left rear-end of the Yaris at a speed of around 55 miles per hour, causing serious damage to both cars.
Response
After CHP received reports about the collision, they immediately sent a team of responders to the site. When response officials arrived, they discovered that Kue had sustained critical trauma. Sadly, he lost his life and was declared deceased on-scene. The Buick driver, identified as a 30-year-old Marysville resident, as well as the Toyota driver, were transported to area hospitals to receive care for their injuries. Updates on their medical conditions haven’t been reported.
Investigation
CHP has reported that they are currently conducting an investigation into what could have been the cause of this crash. At this time, investigators haven’t reported any suspected accident factors. However, police did state that they do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.
Furthermore, crashes such as this one can happen for a number of reasons, and many of the most common collision factors are not under driver control. Such non-driver causes can involve defective vehicle products, dangerously designed roads, and more.
