Major Injuries Occur in Oroville Single-Vehicle Accident on Kelly Ridge Road
A driver suffered major injuries in an Oroville single-vehicle accident on October 1 but managed to self transport himself to the hospital. The collision occurred around 3:48 p.m. along Kelly Ridge Road north of Royal Oaks Drive. Three units were sent out to handle the collision, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) report.
Driver Self Transports Themself to Hospital
When they arrived, they discovered that the vehicle had been abandoned. However, they found that the injured person had taken themself to the Oroville hospital on their own. The accident is under investigation by CHP traffic collision detectives to discover what happened.
Causes of an Oroville Single-Vehicle Accident
Accidents involving single vehicles are most often caused by speeding, distracted driving, intoxication and other types of negligence. Single-vehicle accidents can, however, sometimes be caused by external factors. Compensation for medical bills, lost work time and pain and suffering may be available to the injured party if they can prove that another person or entity was at fault.
An Oroville Single Vehicle Accident Can Be Caused by Mechanical Failure
Vehicle defects such as tires, brakes, steering and accelerators can cause an Oroville single-vehicle accident. There are many reasons why solo vehicle accidents occur due to a defect in an auto part, including:
- Tire defects: The driver may lose control of the vehicle if the tires blow out suddenly or separate in the tread.
- Nonfunctioning brakes: The vehicle will continue to accelerate if the driver is unable to apply the brakes, resulting in a collision.
- Steering failure: Power steering failure can cause the wheels to lock, preventing the driver from controlling their vehicle.
- Sticking accelerator: It is possible for a solo vehicle to crash if the accelerator becomes stuck or malfunctions.
Product liability claims can be filed when mechanical defects cause an accident. In order for engineers to inspect a vehicle for defects after an accident, the vehicle should not be destroyed.
Negligence by the Government Entity in Charge of Roadways
An Oroville single-vehicle accident is often caused by potholes, fissures, upheavals in pavement, and poor design for the road. Government entities responsible for maintaining roads may be liable for injuries caused by faulty maintenance. It might be wise to go to a lawyer if you are involved with a government entity. A claim must be filed within six months of the date of the incident. The court will not consider the claim if it is filed too late.
How an Accident Lawyer Helps You Recover Compensation

They will investigate to collect the evidence to support your claim, including checking surveillance cameras, reviewing the police report, interviewing witnesses and other techniques. Once they have the evidence to support your case, they can handle negotiations with the at-fault party’s insurance carrier and will work hard to get maximum compensation for you.
