Overturned Vehicle Accident in Brentwood
Earlier this month, an overturned vehicle accident in Brentwood left one man with minor injuries. The unidentified man overturned his Volvo SUV on Walnut Boulevard after losing control of the vehicle. The driver was alone in his car at the time of the accident, which was reported to emergency responders shortly after 6:00 p.m. It is still not known what caused the driver to lose control, and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) is still investigating the accident. Fortunately, no other vehicles or persons were involved in the crash. The driver was hospitalized following the crash, however, he was released shortly and is reported to be in good condition.
Accident Details
The early evening crash took place at the intersection of Eureka Avenue and Walnut Boulevard. According to authorities, the male driver was traveling through the northbound lanes and then preceded to pass a vehicle on the two-lane highway. When he pulled back towards his original lane, he began to veer off the roadway. The driver continued to veer and eventually crashed into a utility pole. The pole was severed after the collision and lines began to drop onto the ground. After striking the pole, the Volvo hit a tree and subsequently overturned. The vehicle came to a full stop upside down, tangled with the crown of the fallen tree.
The Aftermath of the Accident
Brentwood Police Department officers arrived at the site of the accident promptly and played a huge role in the assistance required to remove the male from the wreckage. The driver was then transferred to the Sutter Delta Medical Center of Antioch for his injuries, which were classified as minor. CHP officers that were at the scene stated that the driver will be under investigation on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Natural gas company PG&E was requested at the scene to help rid of the broken lines that cluttered the roads. Both directions going through Walnut Boulevard were temporarily closed for a brief time while the accident wreckage was cleared.
