Paradise Man Located After Deadly Accident
During the morning of Thursday, May 28, 2020, the body and motorcycle of a missing Paradise man were found in the Sierra Nevada foothills of Butte County. Officials of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) had not yet confirmed the identity of the man as of Thursday evening but reported that they suspect it to be Michael Endres, a 54-year-old resident of Paradise. Endres went missing on Monday, May 24, 2020, after heading out for a motorcycle ride to the nearby community of Inskip.
Missing Person and Search
Endres was reported missing by family members at 10:30 p.m. on Monday after failing to return home from his motorcycle ride. On Tuesday and Wednesday, staff from the Paradise Police Department, CHP, and the Butte County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search of local roads but were unable to locate him. Helicopters from both CHP and the Sheriff’s Department were utilized during the search.
On Wednesday, officials put out a public call for help with their search, urging anybody with information about the disappearance to contact police.
Officers finally located the wreck at around 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, when a motorcycle matching the description of Endres’ vehicle was spotted by a crew piloting a Butte County Sheriff’s Office helicopter.
Collision Information
Preliminary investigations conducted by police suggest that the man, believed to be Endres, was driving a black 2017 Yamaha FZ10c on Skyway a short distance north of Inskip. Police indicated that evidence at the crash scene suggested the motorcyclist lost control of his vehicle after entering a sharp turn and drove off the road. The motorcycle continued down a roadside embankment and finally crashed around 50 feet away from the roadway. Police have not been able to determine exactly when the crash took place.
Investigation
As officers investigate this accident, they have stated that they do not suspect driver intoxication was a factor. However, no details about what causes could have played a role in the crash have been released. Motorcycle collisions often happen for a number of reasons.
