Pedestrian Accident Fatally Injures Antioch Woman
A woman from Antioch was involved in a rear-end collision in Pittsburg during the evening hours of Friday, April 14, 2017. The woman was walking back to her vehicle after exchanging information with the other motorist when an oncoming car crashed into her. Sadly, the woman passed away the following morning.
What Happened?
An Antioch woman was the passenger of a vehicle traveling eastbound along Leland Road in the vicinity of Bailey Road at approximately 8:30 pm. For unknown reasons, a car travelling behind rear-ended the woman’s vehicle.
The driver of the other vehicle pulled over to the southwest corner of the intersection after the collision. The woman walked over to the other motorist’s car to exchange information. As the woman was walking back to the vehicle she was traveling in, she was stuck by an oncoming vehicle that attempted to drive around the accident.
Antioch Woman Suffers Fatal Injuries
The Antioch woman suffered major injuries as a result of the pedestrian accident. She was transported to a local hospital for overnight treatment. Unfortunately, attempts to save her life were unsuccessful.

Preliminary Investigation
According to Ron Raman, a Captain from the Pittsburg Police Department, the motorist that crashed into the Antioch woman was navigating around the initial rear-end collision. The driver’s attempts were unsuccessful when they crashed into the Antioch woman walking back to her vehicle. Authorities did indicate that the motorist had went through a green light, did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol and cooperated with police.
