Pedestrian Accident Fatally Injures Sacramento Runner
I’m Ed Smith, a Sacramento wrongful death lawyer. A beloved member of the Sacramento running community was struck by a vehicle during the morning hours of Thursday, April 27, 2017. Sadly, the woman suffered critical injuries and later passed away at a local hospital.
What Happened?
A 58-year-old woman, who suffered from memory impairment, was reported missing from her home located along the 4200 block of U Street at approximately 9:00 am. Officers from the Sacramento Police Department searched the area that day into the evening for the woman.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) informed Sacramento Police at approximately 12:00 am that the woman was hit by an oncoming vehicle in the vicinity of 47th Avenue and Highway 99.
Woman Suffers Fatal Injuries
The woman was transported to the hospital after the pedestrian accident. The woman’s condition was listed as critical as of Friday, April 28, 2017. Sadly, she passed away two days later after she was taken off life support.
We extend our condolences to the loved ones of the woman that passed away in this tragic pedestrian accident.
Loved One Forever Remembered
The woman was a noted runner of the Sacramento running community. Some of her athletic accomplishments include winning the inaugural Run to Feed the Hungry 10k in 1994 and her 2-hour, 50-minute marathon during her elite running career. The loved ones of the woman will always hold a special spot in their hearts for this talented runner.
