Should You Accept the First Settlement Offer from the Insurance Company?
Insurers are businesses focused on protecting profit margins and that often requires the avoidance of paying out claims. When an insurance company knows their policyholder is responsible for losses, they may use every defense strategy possible to devalue or deny claims. This may be in the form of making quick settlement offers to injured parties who are unable to work because of accident-related injuries and have medical expenses piling up.
An initial settlement offer will be much lower than the value of a personal injury claim. When a settlement is accepted, a claimant signs away their right to seek additional damages. As an injured party, it is in your best interest to discuss your case in detail with an experienced Fresno pedestrian accident lawyer immediately. Retaining legal counsel right away is crucial to obtaining a favorable outcome in your case.
