Pedestrian Dies in Fairfield Trucking Accident
California Highway Patrol (CHP) officials indicated that one man lost his life during a freeway accident in Fairfield on Tuesday, June 25, 2019. Reports stated that the collision involved three vehicles as well as an individual that authorities say may have been a pedestrian. The identity of the decedent is currently being withheld by officials of the Solano County Sheriff’s Department pending his family’s notification. Additionally, no further injuries related to the accident have been reported. My sincere condolences are extended to the people who have lost a family member or friend due to this terrible collision.
Crash Information
At the time of reporting, details regarding the accident were scarce. According to CHP, the accident happened sometime shortly before 3:15 p.m. on the eastbound side of Highway Interstate 80 just east of the offramp for American Canyon Road in Fairfield. Police indicated that they found a white-colored pickup truck, a red-colored Kia sedan, and a big-rig all stopped on the highway’s shoulder.
Responding officials stated that, upon arriving at the crash scene, they found one man lying in the grass on the highway shoulder with severe bleeding. Moments after finding the injured individual, paramedics began to provide him with CPR. Tragically, responders were not able to stabilize him, and the man was pronounced deceased before he could be taken to a hospital.
Investigation
CHP reports that investigators are working to find out what factors were at play in this accident. So far, no suspected causes have been mentioned by investigating officials. Sometimes, collisions involving semi trucks are caused by factors outside of the control of pedestrians or standard passenger vehicles such as inadequate truck maintenance, highway defects, or unrealistic commercial driving schedules. Contact an experienced attorney who can investigate the crash to determine fault.
Trucking Accidents and Liability
Auto accidents that involve large trucks can easily lead to severe or fatal injuries. This is due to the sheer size of these vehicles, which often weigh over eight tons. The companies that own and operate these vehicles know that their business runs the risk of accidents and are usually prepared to take action if one occurs. Trucking companies will usually send a legal response team to the site of a crash in order to take statements from witnesses and gather evidence that helps them disclaim responsibility.
Because these companies move so quickly, it can be critical for people who have suffered damages to find a lawyer as soon as possible. When a Fairfield wrongful death lawyer can begin working on your case right away, they more effectively hold companies accountable for the damages they’ve caused.
