What Happened?
The pedestrian involved in the hit and run crash was 29-year-old, Arash Dabestani. Dabestani is a blind student that is attending the Society for the Blind. Dabestani lost his eye vision approximately seven years ago. Dabestani initiated orientation and mobility classes in Midtown Sacramento at the Society for the Blind about seven months prior to the accident. Dabestani was struck by a vehicle that also broke his mobility cane while he was using the crosswalk for the 15th Street and S Street intersection.
We extend our sympathy and best wishes for a speedy recovery to Mr. Dabestani.
Sacramento Police Department Investigating
The Sacramento Police Department is still searching for the hit and run motorist who crashed into Arash Dabestani and drove off from the scene. Authorities are encouraging all witnesses to contact the Sacramento Police Department for any observations or tips regarding the accident. Please call the following telephone number if you think you might have information that will lead to the apprehension of the suspect involved in the hit and run collision involving Mr. Dabestani.
