Pedestrian Dies in Vallejo Auto Accident
On Monday, July 27, 2020, a man lost his life during a Vallejo auto accident, marking the second deadly pedestrian-involved collision in the city in less than a week. The decedent was identified as a 62-year-old man, but the Solano County Sheriff’s Department is currently withholding his full identity. The crash reportedly took place in the early morning and involved the pedestrian as well as a single passenger vehicle. The incident remains under investigation by the Vallejo Police Department (VPD).
Accident Details
The accident occurred at about 4:07 a.m. on Sonoma Boulevard. VPD reports that the pedestrian was struck on the 4300 block near the junction of Highways 37 and 29 while walking on the northbound side of the street. Police stated that the driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with ongoing investigations.
When emergency responders arrived at the accident scene, they discovered that the pedestrian had been critically injured. Police administered CPR until medics arrived. Tragically, medics at the scene officially pronounced the man deceased.
Investigation
VPD has indicated that an investigation into this accident is being conducted by their Traffic Division. So far, officers haven’t reported any likely factors but have stated that they do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved. Furthermore, investigators have asked possible accident witnesses or people with information about the incident to contact VPD Officer Lenard Alamon at (707) 648-4013.
