Accident Info

Officers from the Fairfield Police Department (FPD) reported that they received calls indicating that a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle on Travis Boulevard at about 6:41 a.m. Responding officers said that the woman had been walking to work using the sidewalk before she attempted to cross the roadway. While crossing, she was struck along the 700 block near the intersection of Jefferson Street.

Police indicated that the woman had been wearing dark clothing and that the driver of the vehicle reportedly could not see the woman until the moment of the crash. Additionally, it was noted that the woman had not been crossing at a designated crosswalk area.

Injuries

The pedestrian, a 47-year-old woman from Fairfield, reportedly received severe injuries during the accident and was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital so that she could be given emergency medical treatment.

The particular nature of the individual’s injuries, as well as updates on her condition, were not available at the time of this report.

Causal Factors

FPD is investigating the accident in order to determine what causal factors were involved. Police have said that they do not suspect alcohol or drugs to have been involved. Furthermore, officers reported that the driver of the vehicle had been traveling within the speed limit of the area.

Factors that may have been involved in this auto accident include driver distraction, dangerous roadway conditions, faulty vehicle parts such as brakes, and more.
