34th Annual Pittsburg CA Seafood and Music Festival – Fresh crawfish boil, BBQ lobster tails, and deep-fried alligator bites are just some of the many tasty dishes that will be at the 34th annual Pittsburg Seafood and Music Festival. This local event will be happening from Sept. 8 – 9 and is anticipated to bring roughly 30,000 visitors over to the city’s downtown marina. Not only will this festival include over 25 food vendors, but there will also be an eclectic set of musicians and singers for those that want to kick back and relax after their meals.
What to Expect This Year
One of the new features this year involves a spotlighted restauranteur cooking up chamber-sponsored seafood dishes on site, according to chamber CEO Monica Couture. Many of the chefs are Pittsburg natives and will be incorporating favorite local dishes into their menu items. Terry Braggs, representing Bragging Ryt’s Catering from Oakland, is one of the many cooks whose specialties tend to be on the healthier side. His menu will include a fresh paella of shrimp, scallops, and mussels, complete with grilled oysters, lobster tails, and garlic crab. Braggs stated that he wants his seafood dishes to reflect the health-conscious values that have become more common in society.
Live Cooking Demo
The central seafood barbecuing arena will be making its return this year, where festival attendants can observe the chefs live in action. You can watch your favorite cooks grill crab legs and crawfish mixed with Cajun spices, sausage, corn, and shrimp in preparation of the crawfish boil. If you’re not a seafood fanatic, you can enjoy the arts and craft vendors, water stunt exhibitions, or the live music.
Music Headliners
Two of the primary music headliners both have their roots in the Bay Area. Headlining Grammy Award-nominee Sheila E. is a world-renowned drummer that has done song collaborations with Prince, Gloria Estefan, and Marvin Gaye. Caravanserai is a Santana tribute band that includes a few original Santana band members. Sheila E. is set to perform on Sept. 8, whereas Caravanserai is scheduled for Sept. 9.
