Fatal Pittsburg Pedestrian Crash

On Wednesday, February 19, 2020, Contra Costa County authorities released the identity of a man who tragically passed away after suffering injuries in a Pittsburg pedestrian crash. The decedent was identified as Charles Guerrero IV, a 33-year-old resident of Denver, Colorado. The crash took place a few days earlier on Sunday, February 16, 2020, and happened on a local highway off-ramp in the very early morning. According to reports, no other individuals were injured during the accident. Additionally, California Highway Patrol (CHP), has this accident under investigation.

Crash Information

The crash occurred at around 1:15 a.m. on Highway 4 on the eastbound exit and entrance ramp for Loveridge Road in the city of Pittsburg. A 36-year-old man from Livermore was driving a 2013 Honda and began exiting the highway while Guerrero was reportedly walking across the ramp. As the Honda entered the ramp, it collided with the pedestrian.

Responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash happened. Sadly, Guerrero was found with critical trauma and pronounced deceased on-site. According to reports, the driver remained at the scene of the accident and cooperated with investigating officers.

Investigation

As an investigation into this tragic crash continues, CHP has asked that anybody with relevant information get in touch in order to help officers understand what happened. Callers should use the non-emergency phone number (925) 646-4980.

Investigating fatal accidents can often be difficult for investigators because decedents are not able to offer their version of events. This means that it’s easy for police to overlook important factors that may be critical pieces of evidence in a wrongful death case. In order to ensure that fatal accidents are investigated fully and with your family’s rights as a priority, it’s important to work with a lawyer who has experience privately investigating deadly collisions.

Another Recent Area Crash

This accident happened just six days after another fatal pedestrian crash in Contra Costa County. On Monday, February 10, 2020, an 18-year-old Concord High student was struck by a vehicle while walking along the Port Chicago Highway on-ramp to Highway 4. The vehicle reportedly drove away from the accident scene. Police stated that they have located the missing person and vehicle but have not yet reported news of an arrest.

Contacting an Attorney

After a fatal crash, families are often emotionally devastated. During this period of grieving, it can be difficult to keep up with your normal, daily life, and the idea of pursuing a wrongful death case can seem overwhelming. However, negligent parties are often quick to begin putting together a legal defense, which can keep families from recovering the compensation that they deserve.

To make sure that you are able to claim compensation for lost income, medical expenses, personal suffering, and other costs, it’s vital to reach out to a Pittsburg wrongful death lawyer as soon as you can. Furthermore, knowing that an experienced professional is handling your case means that you can focus on the important task of emotional healing and spending time with the people you love.
