Pollock Pines Woman Dies During Placerville Crash
Officers from Placerville California Highway Patrol (CHP) have reported a deadly car accident that took place on a local roadway on Tuesday, April 16, 2019. The crash left one person with fatal injuries and, according to reports, did not involve any other individuals. The fatally injured woman was identified by authorities as Heather McCreery, a 42-year-old resident of the community of Pollock Pines. I would like to extend my sympathy to Ms. McCreery’s loved ones during this difficult time.
Crash Information
The accident took place at around 12:30 a.m. McCreery had been driving a four-door Subaru and was heading north on Forebay Road when she entered a curve. As she was driving through the curve, her vehicle traveled over the southbound lane and drove onto the western roadway shoulder. Not long after the vehicle entered the shoulder, it struck a large tree, causing major damage to the driver’s side of the Subaru. The vehicle eventually came to a rest inside of the northbound lane of Forebay Road.
CHP dispatched personnel to the crash site immediately after receiving notification of the collision. When emergency response officials arrived at the accident scene, they found that McCreery had suffered major injuries. Sadly, medics could not revive her and McCreery was declared deceased on-site.
Investigation
Officers are currently investigating what may have caused this crash. So far, officers have not released a full report on the factors they believe were involved. However, a preliminary investigation has revealed that alcohol may have been a “contributing factor” in this accident. Investigating officers have asked that anybody who may have information about this collision contact the local CHP traffic department by calling either (916) 861-1300 or (530) 662-1110.
Single-vehicle accidents are common, especially on rural roads at night. These types of accidents can be caused by multiple factors and often involve auto product defects, hazards in the road, medical issues, and other common collision causes.
Hit-Object Accidents
Hit-object accidents are very dangerous, especially with large objects such as buildings and trees. Because these objects do not budge in the event of a crash, the amount of force involved in accidents is typically transferred directly into the vehicle. This often leads to serious or fatal trauma for those involved.
Hit-object accidents often only involve one vehicle. For this reason, many people are unsure if they will be able to claim compensation for their losses. The best thing you can do in this situation is to contact a Placerville wrongful death lawyer who has plenty of experience dealing with fatal accident cases. Most lawyers will offer you free advice over the phone, so there is no downside to reaching out.
