Pokemon Go Players
Many Pokemon Go players have been causing driving safety concerns for the residents of a local Rancho Cordova neighborhood.
What Happened?
The neighborhood located nearby Sunrise Boulevard and Douglas Road have a Dratini hot spot that lures Pokemon Go players to the area. Drivers playing Pokemon Go drive too fast, too slow, or drive too close to the edge of the sidewalks where these actions can potentially cause harm to pedestrians in the neighborhood. The biggest issue in the local Rancho Cordova neighborhood has been distracted driving because of small children playing outside.
Pokemon Go Safety Concern Announcement Efforts
On Wednesday, July 20, 2016, a road sign was been placed on the intersection of Folsom Boulevard and Sunrise Boulevard stating that drivers that play Pokemon Go while driving lead to a minimum fine of $163. Residents of the Rancho Cordova neighborhood want Pokemon Go players to park their car and leave their car stationed in one spot. The Rancho Cordova Police Department and officers have been making appearances in the local neighborhood when nighttime comes around and asking Pokemon Go players to leave once the parks are closed.
