If you are a resident of Rancho Cordova, you’ve likely seen and often passed the Safety Center located at 3909 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento, CA 95827. I often wondered what they did there other than provide tours and education to school age students. I have learned that they have several programs for adults. I’d like to let you know about a few of them.
As a personal injury lawyer, specializing in motorcycle and wrongful death claims, I have seen the toll that motorcycle accidents have had on residents of California. Therefore, the goal of the Safety Center really pleases me. They state their aim is to help ‘children, teens and adults….(be) safe in the community, on the road and on the job.’
What do they offer the adults of Sacramento of Rancho Cordova and Sacramento? The Safety Center offers programs for motorcycle riders. There are two programs each tailored to the needs of both the novice and mature rider.
The most widely used of the motorcycle safety programs they offer is for the individual who has just got their first motorcycle or has just obtained their motorcycle license. If you have just purchased your motorcycle and are over the age of 21, you may not be required by the DMV to obtain this class. However, there are many good reasons to do so. Besides increasing your driving skills and teach techniques that will keep motorcyclists safe on the road, the class will also provide participants with a certificate of completion. The certificate you obtain may help reduce the insurance premium you pay on your motorcycle policy. Talk to your insurance broker or agent to confirm what your policy allows. Additionally, this class may waive the performance of the riding skills test when you go to the DMV. Emphasis of the class is to help the motorcyclist have strong street riding skills.
However, if you are a mature motorcyclist in Rancho Cordova, another program offered by the Safety Center, which will be coming shortly.
Seniors of Rancho Cordova will also be pleased to know that the Safety Center is a provider of the Mature Driver Defensive Driving class. I mention this only because personal experience has shown me that insurance premiums climb higher as we get older. According to the DMV website, insurance premiums increase starting at 65 years of age. The Safety Center offers both a 4 hour refresher course or an 8 hour course both of which will result in a certificate that Seniors can provide your insurance broker or agent to obtain a discount on your auto insurance policy. Besides resulting in a reduction of your insurance premium, the class provides safety techniques to adapt to the effects of aging. If you wish to enroll in their program, click here.
