Rancho Cordova Senseless Shooting
About an hour before sunrise on Thursday, August 27, 2015 shots rang out in the City of Rancho Cordova. When silence fell, a 4-year-old boy and his grandmother were horrified to realize they had been shot in what appeared to be a drive-by shooting.
The incident happened as the two lay sleeping on a couch in a two-story apartment complex along Croetto Way in Rancho Cordova.
The young boy suffered a grazing type gunshot wound to his back. The grandmother received a gunshot wound to her hand. Both grandmother and grandson are recovering from their harrowing experience committed by an unknown gunman.
Family members said that the boy and his grandmother were taken to UC Davis Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.
Rancho Cordova Police Department detectives shut down Croetta Way while they performed an investigation of the scene.
At this time, no further information is available as to why or who caused bullets to be shot into this apartment complex this past Thursday morning.
