Intersection Accident in North Highlands Caused by Reckless Driver

A reckless driver caused an accident in North Highlands on October 26 when the vehicle collided with an SUV. The collision was reported around 7:49 in the evening at the intersection of Roseville Road and Winona Way. According to the accident report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the driver of a sports vehicle was recklessly passing when the collision occurred. A minor injury was reported, however, no information was provided on whether that person was taken to a hospital for additional treatment or tended to by medics at the scene. The CHP is investigating to determine fault.

Accident Injuries Are Commonly Caused by a Reckless Driver

In California, reckless driving constitutes a number of different actions. All of them demonstrate poor regard for others and can lead to a collision. Those who suffer injuries in an accident caused by a reckless driver may wish to place a personal injury claim for compensation, which can cover their medical expenses, pain and suffering, and lost wages. Some of the ways in which a reckless driver can cause an injury accident include:

  • Tailgaters: Tailgaters are those who follow another vehicle too closely for safety. If the vehicle in front has an emergency and has to stop quickly or slow down, an accident usually follows and can cause serious injuries. The reckless driver who was tailgating is usually found at fault for the collision.
  • Speeders: Speed limits are posted because they are the maximum at which a driver can go without increasing the risk of injuries or fatalities on that particular roadway. During bad weather, a motorist can be cited as a reckless driver if they happen to be going too fast for conditions, even though it’s under the speed limit.
  • Drunk and drugged drivers: An impaired motorist easily becomes a reckless driver because intoxication with either alcohol or drugs interferes with the ability to safely handle a vehicle.
  • Red light and stop sign runners: Running a red light or stop sign is reckless behavior that often occurs at intersections, causing serious injuries and fatalities. Speeding through an intersection can cause a head-on collision, T-bone accident and endangers pedestrians and bicyclists.
  • Weaving in traffic: Unpredictable drivers are often reckless and cause many accidents. One is the driver who weaves in and out of lanes. The other is the driver who keeps changing lanes to get a little ahead of other motorists. When a driver is doing this, other motorists cannot predict their actions, which makes them more dangerous.

When your injuries were caused by the actions of a driver who was reckless, you may be able to file a compensation claim and hold them responsible for your medical bills and other losses. If negotiating with the insurance company doesn’t succeed in recovering what you need to cover those losses, an injury lawyer can take the case to civil court. At my law office, we offer a free, no-obligation consultation in which we review your case, answer your questions and tell you what options are available to recover the compensation you deserve.
