Red Bluff Crash Causes Major Trauma
Officers of the Red Bluff Police Department (RBPD) stated that one person suffered major injuries during a local auto accident that took place during the afternoon on Wednesday, July 24, 2019. The accident involved a passenger vehicle and a pedestrian who had been using a motorized wheelchair. Medical officials indicated that the man’s injuries were very severe, but have not yet provided any updates regarding his condition. I’d like to offer my sympathy to the injured man and his family during this difficult time.
Crash Details
According to RBPD, the crash happened at around 12:43 p.m. A 19-year-old man had been driving south on Main Street in Red Bluff in a blue Chrysler minivan. At the same time, a 59-year-old man had been using his electric wheelchair as a pedestrian to cross Main Street at the Sycamore Street intersection. The front end of the minivan struck the wheelchair, breaking it in half. The collision also caused significant damage to the front of the vehicle and caused the airbags to deploy.
Police arrived at the accident site shortly after the crash took place and closed the roadway off as emergency response was underway. Medical officials found that the wheelchair driver had suffered critical trauma and had him transported to the Mercy Medical Center in Redding via helicopter ambulance. Whether or not the Chrysler driver suffered any injuries was not reported.
Investigation
Officers kept the roadway closed until around 2:00 p.m. after police had finished surveying the accident scene for evidence. RBPD is reportedly still actively investigating this crash and has stated that neither alcohol nor drugs appear to have been involved.
Recovering from Serious Injuries
The period of time after a serious accident can be very difficult for survivors and their loved ones. Car accidents often leave people with injuries that are painful and take a long time to recover from. In some cases, families are worried that their loved one will not be able to fully recover. During this time, it is important to spend time with the people you care about and focus on coping with the stress of your situation. However, many people are faced with financial issues that make it difficult to focus on spending time with those they love.
Medical expenses related to car accidents are often very steep, and survivors are often left with a serious amount of debt after receiving surgeries, ambulance rides, hospital stays, therapy, and more. On top of this, suffering a serious injury can make it difficult or impossible to return to your job, meaning your family may lose an important source of income. These concerns are very serious. However, many people are able to get financial help by filing a personal injury claim. If you believe your loved one may have a viable claim, it’s important to speak with an experienced Red Bluff personal injury attorney as soon as you can.
