Red Bluff Highway Crash Causes Major Injuries
A Red Bluff highway crash seriously injured one person on Tuesday, June 30, 2020. Tehama area California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers said that the accident involved multiple cars and occurred in the morning on Highway Interstate 5. Updates on the condition of the injured woman have not been reported and CHP is currently investigating what could have caused the accident.
Crash Details
The accident occurred at about 6:31 a.m. on I-5 inside of Red Bluff just to the south of South Main Street. CHP officers indicated that two vehicles heading south on the highway crashed into each other, but did not provide details regarding the events that led up to the collision. Photos taken at the scene of the accident show a red-colored hatchback with extreme damage to its passenger side and the front-end entirely ripped off.
Response
Responders arrived at the collision site not long after the incident occurred. Responders reportedly discovered a woman with critical injuries and had her rushed to a local hospital to be given medical attention. Whether or not any other individuals were injured has not been reported.
According to Caltrans, the southbound part of the highway was closed for over an hour and the left-most lane was shut down for even longer while officials responded to the crash. The highway remained closed while police conducted a preliminary investigation of evidence at the scene and workers removed the wrecked vehicles and debris from the road.
Investigation
As officers investigate the possible factors involved in this crash, no reports regarding suspected causes are available at this time.
