Red Bluff Woman Fatally Injured in Local Car Accident

California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that a Red Bluff woman lost her life during a car accident that took place on Highway 99 during the morning of Tuesday, December 10, 2019. Tehama County Sheriff’s Office staff identified the decedent the following day as 37-year-old Tamera Elaine Flynn. In addition to Flynn, three other people suffered injuries that ranged from minor to major in severity. The crash is still being investigated by state officials.

Crash Details

The accident happened at around 5:40 a.m. on Highway 99W close to Rodeo Avenue. CHP reports state that a 2003 Honda was driving north on the highway when he attempted to pass another vehicle, entering southbound lanes to do so. At this time, Flynn was a passenger in a 2002 Ford heading south on 99. The two vehicles collided head-on. Police say that a 1998 Chevy traveling behind the Ford was also involved in the crash. Both the Chevy and Ford were left disabled in the roadway after the incident.

Response and Injuries

When CHP responders reached the crash scene, they discovered Flynn in the passenger seat of the Ford. Officers determined that she had suffered severe injuries and had her placed on a helicopter to be taken to a hospital. Tragically, she passed away while on the helicopter. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Jarrod Loyd Flynn, was found with a broken ankle as well as possible internal trauma and hospitalized.

The driver of the Honda, a 21-year-old Corning man, reportedly suffered a major head injury and was rushed to a hospital for care. The Chevy driver, a 46-year-old Red Bluff man, was left with minor injuries. Updates on the conditions of the hospitalized individuals have not been reported so far.

The Impact of Fatal Accidents

Learning that somebody you love has suddenly passed away can be devastating. After traumatic events like these, people often go through an intense period of grieving that can include a mixture of difficult and even confusing emotions. During this time, it’s important to spend time with your family and friends and prioritize yourself so that you can have space to properly grieve. However, the sad truth is that many people are unable to focus on grieving because of financial issues.

Fatal accidents also often mean that families are left with medical bills incurred before their loved one’s death. On top of this, the loss of a family member can mean losing income as well as household services.

These issues are serious, but, thankfully, families are often able to get help. Through filing a wrongful death claim, it’s possible to obtain compensation for all of the above losses as well as payments for your personal pain and suffering. To learn more, it’s best to speak personally with an experienced attorney.
