Redding Man Injured in Car Accident
Shortly before 5:00p.m on Friday, a call came into the Redding Police Department of an auto accident involving three vehicles near the Lakeview Drive and Buenaventura Boulevard intersection in Redding.
What Happened?
When officers arrived at the scene they discovered that the first automobile accident occurred in a southbound lane of Buenaventura Boulevard. A 55-year old man from Redding, Ira Cox, and 85-year old, William Frost also from Redding, collided after Frost stopped at a stop signal and continued on to Buenaventura Boulevard, directly in front of Cox which resulted in a broadside accident. As a result of the impact of the first collision, Cox’s vehicle struck another vehicle, which was traveling northbound at the time.
Were There Injuries?
Yes. Frost and his passenger were transported by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Redding. The passenger in Frost’s vehicle was treated for minor injuries by hospital staff and released later that evening. Sadly, Frost passed away due to the grave nature of his injuries. The occupants in the other vehicles did not sustain injuries in the accident.
Accident Investigation
A portion of Buenaventura Boulevard was closed to through traffic in the vicinity of Lakeside Drive while law enforcement officers conducted a traffic collision investigation. In a statement released by the Redding Police Department, there was no indication that drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident. It typically takes around ten days for an investigating agency to produce a traffic collision report which usually includes a cause for the collision. Sometimes a report can be inconclusive or contain errors as to causation. It is important to contact an experienced auto accident attorney who will investigate the sequence of events leading up to the crash to properly determine fault and help those who have been injured or passed away recover compensation for their damages.
