Redding Highway Crash Hospitalizes Four
Four individuals suffered injuries requiring treatment at a local hospital during a Redding crash on Monday, April 29, 2019. The accident happened in the southern area of Redding on a local highway and involved three vehicles, a sedan, a pickup truck, and a third vehicle that officers say they could not locate. While the severity of the injuries suffered during this accident was not reported, a medical helicopter was called to the collision scene.
Crash Details
California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers say that a white GMC pickup truck was driving south on Highway 273 at high speeds at approximately 2:00 p.m. Officers say that the pickup truck suddenly made an “abrupt turning movement” for unknown reasons and crashed into a Toyota Scion just outside of the intersection at Westwood Avenue. The impact of the collision sent the Scion across the intersection where it eventually came to a rest on the eastern sidewalk of the highway. The pickup truck turned over during the crash and came to a stop resting upside-down on a streetlight, also on the eastern side of the road.
Response
When responders arrived at the location of the collision, they found that passerbys had stopped to push the pickup back onto its wheels so that occupants could exit the vehicle. All three occupants of the pickup, as well as the driver of the Scion, were all taken to nearby hospitals for immediate care. However, police did not mention which of the involved individuals was transported by helicopter. Additionally, police indicated that the pickup driver would be evaluated at the hospital for possible intoxicated driving.
Investigation
Police are still investigating this accident in order to find out all of the factors that were involved. So far, the only suspected factors that investigators have mentioned are speeding and driving under the influence. Other common crash factors include auto product malfunctions, distracted driving, hazardous roads, and more. CHP has asked for help with their investigation from anyone who may have more information about the crash. Callers should use the non-emergency phone number (530) 225-4200 to tell police what they know.
Calling a Lawyer
The period of time after a crash can be very stressful for injured people and their families. It can be hard to focus if you are worried about your loved one recovering in the hospital or if you are recovering from an injury yourself. During this time, people often need to take time to focus on healing and on spending time with the people they love. However, it is important to take time to speak with a lawyer as soon as you can. Having the advice of a Redding personal injury lawyer can be critical to reclaiming payments for the damages you suffered because of your accident.
