Fatal Kelseyville Accident
On Saturday, February 29, 2020, a Kelseyville accident tragically cost one woman her life. Lake County Sheriff’s Department authorities have identified the decedent as Ashley Pulawa, a 26-year-old resident of Redwood Valley. According to information from Clearlake Area California Highway Patrol (CHP), the collision happened in the evening and involved a single vehicle. No other injuries related to the accident were reported.
Crash Information
The accident happened on Highway 29 just south of Kelseyville at about 6:30 p.m. According to CHP, a 24-year-old Redwood Valley man was driving a 2000 Nissan pickup northbound on the highway with Pulawa as a passenger and two children in the backseat. As the vehicle was traveling, Pulawa fell out of the right-front door of the vehicle. Reports state that the driver then immediately stopped the pickup truck and began administering medical aid while contacting 911.
Emergency medical responders were dispatched to the scene, and when they arrived, they found that Pulawa was critically injured. Tragically, she was pronounced deceased on-site.
CHP spokesperson Joel Skeen reported that officials do not currently know why Pulaway exited the vehicle and are still actively investigating the incident.
Wrongful Death Cases
When somebody loses their lives in an accident that could have reasonably been prevented, it is usually considered a case of wrongful death. Because these accidents happen unexpectedly, it can be very difficult for the loved ones of decedents to process their emotions. The period of grief following news of a fatal accident is often intense and can leave people feeling shocked and overwhelmed. During this period, it’s very important to take care of yourself and spend time with people in your family, friend group, and community. Recovering Compensation
In addition to causing emotional pain, fatal accidents can also leave families in a very precarious place. Losing a loved one can mean losing an important source of income or access to household services that you and your family rely on to live your lives. Unfortunately, worrying about these issues can get in the way of families taking the steps they need to begin the process of emotional healing.
In order to make sure that your family is compensated for these losses, it is critical to get in touch with a local wrongful death lawyer. Your attorney will be able to help you file a case against negligent parties and negotiate with insurers to make sure you receive the payments that you need to cover income loss and other damages.
