Vacaville Welcomes Safe Travelers
The president/CEO of tourism site visitvacaville.com has posted a reopening guide reminding Northern Californians that Vacaville is open for business (in a limited, safe capacity, of course).
The city continues to work with federal, state, and local governments in order to keep the information up to date since COVID-19 related restrictions and guidelines are constantly changing. While the purpose of the guide is to keep visitors and residents of Vacaville apprised of tourism opportunities available within the context of maintaining health and safety, the most current information is always available at the California Department of Public Health website.
Vacaville is welcoming visitors with the caveat that we all should keep health and safety as a priority and take measures to travel responsibly. Currently, the Visit Vacaville Visitor Center is closed out of an abundance of caution. The online trip planner is available.
Vacaville Businesses are Open
Vacaville restaurants, hotels, and many other types of businesses are open and operating with new guidelines, but often in a limited capacity. Strict disinfection and physical distancing measures have been employed. With all that said, here are some ideas for safely enjoying the town of Vacaville, California.
Get Lunch and Go Outside
Vacaville’s wide-open spaces are abundant, and enjoying the great outdoors remains a safe form of entertainment. Pack a picnic, or, better yet, order lunch to-go from one of the local restaurants that are attempting to stay afloat during the pandemic. Due to its location in Northern California’s agricultural heartland, Vacaville cuisine features a bounty of fresh vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients. Some of the well-reviewed restaurants in the area:
Heritage House Café: Offers an American/Italian menu for take-out.
Backdoor Bistro: Delicious, seasonal cuisine currently open for take-out options from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Vasquez Deli: Open 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. This restaurant has an extensive menu, outdoor seating, and plenty of take-out options
Tacos Jalisco: Offering an extensive menu of Mexican favorites, available through grubhub.com and doordash.com.
Hecho en Mexico: This is a favorite local taqueria, open Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
Clay Oven: Features Indian specialties with easy online ordering.
Peace Love & Boba: Comfort food with no-contact delivery. Check out their varied and interesting menu here.
Buddha Thai Bistro: Highly rated (over 1,000 reviews!) local Thai food.
Once you have your lunch packed up, head out to enjoy an open-air hike or bike ride. Enjoy the clean mountain air at one of the many community parks or enjoy the biking and hiking trails at Lagoon Valley Park, which encompasses over 450 acres. Browns Valley Hills is another large open space for enjoying nature, though it does not have marked trails.
Vacaville has an interesting history. Take a look at this YouTube video comparing the sights of old Vacaville to now.
