Tips for Staying Cool During the Heatwave
Did you know that the most common weather-related deaths occur due to the heat? It’s true.
Temperatures are expected to soar to triple digits all week.
Hot Weather Tricks and Tips
We are happy to provide some good tips for staying cool and safe during the Roseville heatwave:
- Drink lots of water (at least 2-4 cups of water each hour if you are out in the direct heat while being physically active).
- Protect your skin by using a broad-spectrum 30+ SPF sunscreen.
- Wear light-colored clothing that fits loosely.
- Wear a hat and sunglasses.
- Limit your exposure to the sun during peak mid-day sunshine.
- When pursuing active outdoor activities, don’t do it alone. Pace yourself in the heat and stay near others.
- People on medication for high blood pressure, heart disease, etc. should be monitored for heat-related symptoms as they are at a higher risk.
- Young children and seniors are more likely to suffer heat-related illnesses than other age groups.
- Never leave your children, infants, or pets inside an unattended vehicle.
- Give your beloved pets a shady area to rest and plenty of water. Better yet, move your pet indoors on triple-digit weather days.
