Walerga Road Blocked by Serious Two-Vehicle Accident
A tragic two-vehicle accident in Roseville on August 22 resulted in a fatality and hospitalization of others. The collision occurred near the intersection of Walerga and PFE roads. Northbound Walerga Road was shut down by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) as the scene was cleared. The CHP traffic accident unit is investigating to discover what happened and assign fault. The identity of the person who died in the collision hasn’t yet been released, pending family notification by the County Coroner’s Office.
Two-Vehicle Intersection Collisions
Although many people believe that a two-vehicle intersection collision won’t result in more than a fender-bender, they can’t be more wrong. A number of factors come into play in intersection accidents, such as where the vehicles impact, speed, size, weight and others. Common causes of a two-vehicle accident that can result in serious injuries or fatalities include:
- A driver who speeds through a red light at an intersection can cause severe injuries or fatalities in others when he/she strikes their car broadside. T-bone accidents can be among the most dangerous because there is less protection on the side of a vehicle.
- Making a dangerous left or right turn without a clear view of oncoming traffic can result in a serious collision, including a head-on crash.
- Making a U-turn where it isn’t allowed can result in a two-vehicle accident, causing injuries and fatalities.
- Distracted driving can cause a two-vehicle crash when the driver is talking with passengers, texting or performing another activity.
Establishing Negligence in a Two-Vehicle Accident
Negligence must be established in an injury or fatality accident for claims to be placed to recover damages. Your injury lawyer can conduct their own investigation to gather the evidence. An investigation commonly includes reviewing the police report, interviewing witnesses, searching for surveillance footage and other techniques. Once the evidence has been gathered, it is given to the lawyer to construct a strong personal injury or wrongful death case.
Personal Injury Recoverable Compensation
By filing a personal injury claim, injured parties are usually able to receive compensation, including for the following:
- Medical costs that arise as a result of the two-vehicle accident. This includes hospital and physician bills, tests, treatments and rehabilitation. If the injury hasn’t been resolved by the time of settlement, future costs are figured in.
- Wages that were lost because the injured party couldn’t work.
- Pain and suffering, both physical and mental, due to the accident.
- Loss of consortium.
- Loss of household assistance.
Recoverable Compensation in a Two-Vehicle Accident
Families of those whose loved one died in an accident because of someone else’s negligence and file a claim for wrongful death may recover:
- Funeral and burial cost
- Wages until the decedent’s retirement age
- Spouse and children can be compensated for their personal losses
- Household assistance
- Loss of inheritance
