Accident on Roseville Bypass Causes Fatality When Car Exits Road

A traffic fatality occurred in Roseville on July 17 when a vehicle reportedly came off the Roseville Bypass and crashed in an open area far off the roadway. The accident occurred around 8:20 in the morning when the vehicle was discovered by officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The vehicle ended up near the intersection of Antelope Creek Drive and Creekside Ridge Court.

Investigation Being Conducted Into Run-Off-Road Accident

The county coroner arrived at the scene of the traffic fatality to declare the person as deceased. The vehicle was removed as evidence by a tow truck. An investigation is being conducted by the CHP to determine how the run-off-road crash occurred.

Run-Off-Road Accidents Can Result in a Traffic Fatality

Run-off-road accidents result in a traffic fatality in a major number of these crashes. A study was conducted on fatal run-off-road accidents by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which concluded that many of these types of accidents were caused by multiple factors. These included speeding, driving drunk and rural roads. However, a run-off-road accident can also be caused by outside factors. When this happens, the family of the deceased person may file a wrongful death claim for compensation. Some of the ways a traffic fatality occurs that is not the fault of the driver includes:

  • An auto defect such as faulty brakes, accelerators or steering can end up causing a traffic fatality. If the gas pedal sticks, it can also affect the brakes in the car, causing them to become hard and stiff. If a defective auto part causes an accident fatality, a product liability claim may be placed against the manufacturer, distributor and others. Negligence does not have to be shown, only that the product was used as intended, not modified and failed, causing the accident.
  • Aggressive drivers cause a number of accidents that could involve a run-off-road traffic fatality. Reckless driving such as tailgating, swerving in and out of traffic or even intentionally forcing another vehicle off the road can occur.
  • Dangerous curves can result in a traffic fatality if the driver exits the road. Lack of warning signs of a dangerous curve or poor design can cause a driver to leave the roadway and be injured or die. The government entity in charge of design and maintenance can be liable for any injuries or fatalities in accidents of this type.

How a Personal Injury Lawyer in Roseville Can Help

Our investigative team is highly experienced in uncovering the true cause of an accident. To determine the reason, they use accident reconstruction techniques to map out how the traffic fatality occurred and look for government negligence. They interview any witnesses and check the police report for mistakes. When the evidence has been compiled, it is given over to our lawyers to structure a strong case in support of our client’s claim for damages.

Supporting a Grieving Family

The loss of a loved one is tragic; however, there are ways that a friend, family member, and others can be supportive. Some suggestions to help them during this sorrowful period include;

  • Call to express your sympathy. Cards and flowers are appreciated too.
  • Send over food that is prepared at home or purchased.
  • Offer to run errands or drive a grieving person to shop. Many people have to pick up prescriptions, groceries, or new clothing for the funeral service.
  • Try to help around the home, such as cutting the grass or washing dishes.
  • Offer to accompany or take the person to the funeral home to make the arrangements.
  • Stay in contact afterward. This might be through calls or visits. Inviting someone who is grieving out for lunch can be a welcome break.
