Sacramento Building Collision Being Investigated to Determine Cause
According to the Sacramento Police Department, debris from the collision struck a pedestrian at the scene, resulting in minor injuries. Emergency responders reported that both the pedestrian and the injured staff members sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
Reasons Vehicles Crash Into Buildings
Unfortunately, vehicle-into-building crashes are common and have various underlying causes, including the following:
- Distracted driving, such as texting or using a phone: Activities like texting, eating, adjusting the radio, or even talking to passengers take the driver’s attention away from the road and cause a Sacramento building collision.
- Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs: Consuming alcohol or drugs impairs a driver’s ability to make sound judgments, slows reaction times, and affects coordination.
- Loss of control due to excessive speed: Speeding reduces the driver’s ability to react quickly to unexpected situations, such as other vehicles stopping suddenly or pedestrians crossing the road.
- Poor weather conditions reducing visibility or traction: Rain, snow, fog, or ice can significantly decrease a driver’s ability to see clearly and control their vehicle.
- Medical emergencies causing driver incapacitation: Heart attacks, seizures, diabetic emergencies, and other sudden health issues can render a driver unable to operate their vehicle safely.
- Faulty vehicle components, such as brake failure: Mechanical failures can happen unexpectedly and have catastrophic consequences. If a faulty vehicle component is found, those injured may place a product liability claim against the manufacturer and others.
- Misjudgment of distances, especially in parking areas: Low-speed collisions often occur in parking lots or tight spaces where drivers misjudge distances between vehicles or obstacles. Although these incidents tend to result in minor damage, they can still lead to frustration, inconvenience, and repair costs.
