Golden State Highway Exit Ramp Car Crash Causes One Injury
A car crash between two vehicles on the Golden State Highway in Sacramento resulted in one injury on July 3. The Sacramento Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the accident happened over the eastbound 47th Avenue exit ramp around 2:10 in the afternoon. A caller who reported the accident said they saw a tire flying through the air, and a gray SUV ran over it and became stuck in the number three lane.
Both Vehicles Heavily Damaged in Car Crash
The accident involved a black Honda CRV and a white Ford Edge. The black SUV ended up facing sideways on the west 47th Avenue exit ramp. The Honda ended up missing its right front tire assembly, and the Ford sustained a broken rear axle and damage to the passenger side. The roadway was closed down for about an hour while tow trucks removed the heavily damaged vehicles.
Exit Ramp Accidents
Exit ramp accidents are common because of the congestion of the traffic and driver error and can cause serious injuries. While run-off-road accidents are the most common, other factors can come into play in this type of collision. They can include:
- Speeding
- Encroaching on another lane
- Trying to change lanes on the ramp
- Poor ramp design
- Weather conditions
- Dangerous curves
- Distracted driving
- Being cut off by another driver
- Improper merging
- Tailgating and other forms of reckless driving
Seeking Help After a Car Crash
A lawyer who is seasoned in obtaining compensation for a client following a highway crash is a good choice when seeking advice or legal assistance following an injury. I strongly believe that no one should have to suffer the physical pain as well as the financial loss for an accident that wasn’t their fault. Over the many years I’ve worked as an injury lawyer, I’ve helped many people get the compensation they deserve.
Investigation Is Key to Winning Compensation
In an accident, an at-fault driver will do their best to avoid blame. After all, they don’t want their insurance to go up or face a day in court for their wrongdoing. Our investigators gather the evidence needed to support our client’s compensation claim by compiling everything needed to support it with either the insurance company or in court. Some of the areas they seek evidence in include:
- The investigators look for errors in the police report.
- Witnesses to the accident are interviewed to get their statements on how the car crash occurred.
- Accident reconstruction is a valuable part of evidence collection. It shows the initial positioning of the vehicles before the car crash and can indicate negligent behavior by the at-fault party.
- Traffic and business surveillance cameras are sought because they may contain film of the car crash as it occurred.
- An examination of the exit ramp is performed to check into its design and maintenance. A poorly maintained ramp or one that has narrow lanes, too sharp a curve or other factors can lead to a traffic collision. Whichever government entity is responsible for the design and upkeep may be held liable.
Our lawyers start work once the evidence has been collected to build a substantial case for our client. In some claims, it can be used in negotiating with the insurance company. In others, the case has to be taken to court if the insurance company is reluctant to pay what the client deserves. Either way, our client owes nothing until their case has been won.
