Accidents Involving Pedestrians and Negligent Drivers
When negligent drivers fail to observe the right of way, disregard traffic signals and signs, or behave in a careless manner, pedestrians are injured. Drivers who fail to yield or take proper precautions while driving may cause catastrophic injuries to pedestrians in some cases. A pedestrian may suffer traumatic brain injury, lacerations, broken bones, or spinal cord damage in an accident.
As a result of the speed at which cars travel through intersections, pedestrians are generally more vulnerable to injury. Also, if pedestrians cross in front of drivers or walk along sidewalks near intersections, motorists may not see them. Therefore, pedestrians should obey traffic signals and signs when crossing intersections and wear clothing that can be seen.
An Injury Lawyer’s Approach to Finding a Sacramento Fleeing Driver
An experienced injury lawyer will investigate the cause of a hit-and-run accident to determine who caused it. The process may involve interviewing police officers and reviewing surveillance footage, collecting evidence from witnesses and bystanders and searching public records. Lawyers can also assist injured clients in seeking compensation for their losses and injuries in addition to identifying the driver.
Accident Injuries Can Be Covered by Uninsured/Underinsured Insurance
In some situations, an accident-related injury is not adequately compensated by the negligent driver’s insurance company or the Sacramento fleeing driver cannot be located. Medical expenses up to the limit on your policy may be covered by uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. If you have been injured in an accident, you can seek financial recovery through your insurance policy with the help of an experienced injury lawyer, who can negotiate for you. If you do not carry an uninsured/underinsured policy but your family member does, you can use theirs to recover your losses. The policy rates are unaffected.
