Sacramento Front End Collision on Northgate Boulevard
A Sacramento front end collision in the midafternoon on November 29 along Northgate Boulevard just west of Del Paso Road occurred when a red Chevy and black Range Rover collided head-on. The Sacramento Fire Department arrived at the scene, and an ambulance was called for unspecified injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The drivers have not been identified as of the time of this report nor has there been any word about where the injured were taken.
Head-On Collisions
A front-end collision is a terrifying experience, and the results are often catastrophic. This is because both vehicles are traveling in opposing directions, so the impact is similar to running into a brick wall at whatever the speed the car is traveling. The faster the speed the vehicles are going, the more serious the injuries and risk of fatalities. Rather than trying to handle major medical bills and other expenses alone, why not talk to an experienced personal injury lawyer about whether you are entitled to recover damages.
How Front End Collisions Happen
Front-end collisions can happen in a number of different ways, including:
- A driver is passing unsafely on a two-lane road
- Making a turn in an intersection without checking for oncoming traffic
- A wrong-way driver enters a one-way street or highway
- A motorist drifts into an opposing lane
Types of Driver Error
Overall, driver error is responsible for front-end collisions 95 percent of the time. This includes those who go are involved in front-end collisions. Some of the factors that contribute to this type of accident include:
- Distracted driving can encompass any behavior that takes the motorist’s eyes off the roadway for even a few seconds such as texting, changing a radio station or accessing GPS. Texting is one of the most dangerous activities since it involves visual, cognitive and manual attention.
- Not adjusting driving behavior in bad weather such as poor visibility can cause a driver to enter a road going the wrong way or slide into an opposing lane.
- Improper passing such as going over a double yellow line or on a hill where visibility is poor can cause a Sacramento front-end collision.
- Fatigued driving makes a driver less aware of their surroundings. In many instances, a driver can fall asleep, causing their vehicle to drift into another lane.
- Drunk or drugged driving, which affects judgment, reaction time and vision, is a common cause of a front-end collision.
- Speeding is always a bad idea because a driver can lose control of the vehicle.
- Ignoring stop signs or traffic lights can lead to a front-end collision.
- Making an improper turn such as in an area where it is forbidden or from the wrong lane can cause a Sacramento front-end collision.
