Sacramento Man Identified After Fatal Dixon Highway Accident
On Wednesday, November 6, 2019, the decedent of a fatal Dixon highway accident was identified by authorities of the Solano County Sheriff’s Office. The decedent was identified as Jonathan Roseto, a 23-year-old man from Sacramento. According to reports from California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash happened the day prior, and one other individual was left with injuries during the incident and was taken to a nearby hospital. Police are actively investigating the causal factors of this accident.
Crash Information
The collision happened at around 10:40 p.m. on Highway Interstate 80 to the east of the Currey Road exit. Roseto was driving a 2007 Honda Accord eastbound in the fast lane of the highway. According to police reports, the vehicle was traveling above 65 miles per hour when Roseto attempted to change lanes. The Accord reportedly struck a slower-moving 2013 Ford Escape while attempting to enter the adjacent lane.
As a result of the initial impact, the Escape overturned, eventually coming to a stop on its passenger side on the right-hand shoulder of I-80. The Honda continued traveling east before traveling off the road and coming to a stop in a patch of bushes off the side of the highway.
Response
Emergency responders were dispatched to the crash scene right away. When they arrived, they discovered that Roseto suffered critical injuries during the impact. Tragically, Roseto lost his life on-site. The driver of the SUV, identified as a 71-year-old woman, was found with significant injuries and transported to the Kaiser hospital in Vacaville for treatment. Medical officials say that her trauma is not life-threatening, and she is expected to fully recover.
Investigation
As police are investigating this accident, they allegedly believe that alcohol may have been a factor.
