Sacramento Single Vehicle Crash
A Sacramento single vehicle crash causing an injury on February 16 occurred along the 2000 block of Bradshaw Road when a driver lost control of their car. The accident occurred shortly after 9:30 in the evening when the driver, for unknown reasons, left the roadway, taking down a brick and iron fence and slamming into a tree. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the vehicle was a black Chevy Suburban. Workers with the Sacramento Municipal Utility District were called to the scene because the vehicle was left resting on top of a transformer box.
Injuries in the Single Vehicle Accident
The extent of injuries to at least one individual has not been reported. However, that person was transported by fast response to the UC Davis Medical Center. The accident is being investigated by the CHP to determine the cause.
Causes of an Accident Involving One Vehicle
Although many accidents involve two or more vehicles, not all of them do. A Sacramento single-vehicle crash is surprisingly common. While the driver might automatically assume that the fault is theirs, it isn’t necessarily true. In some cases, the driver may be able to hold the party that is negligent responsible for injuries and other damages. Following are some of the ways that a single vehicle crash can involve negligence by another individual or entity:
- A vehicle pulls out in front of yours, giving you no option but to go off the road or slam on the brakes.
- Another driver crosses over into your lane, almost causing a collision, and you have to swerve your car out of the way.
- An aggressive driver or someone with road rage tries to force you off the road.
- Your vehicle malfunctions due to a defective part such as the brakes or accelerator and this causes your Sacramento single-vehicle crash.
- The road is poorly maintained with potholes, fissures or cracks that cause your vehicle to go off course. In these cases, the government entity responsible for the upkeep of the road may be held liable for your injuries.
- The design of the road led to your accident because of narrow lanes, poor drainage, a curve that is too sharp for the speed limit or insufficient banking on curves.
- Obstacles on a roadway such as materials that have fallen off a truck can result in an accident that is not your fault.
Seeking Help From a Personal Injury Lawyer
When you or a loved one has been injured through the negligence of another party, it may be possible to seek financial compensation for your injuries. Since personal injury lawyers generally offer a free first consultation, it gives the injured person the opportunity to call, ask questions and see if they might have a case. The attorney can then either deal with the insurance company for them or if needed, compile the evidence and information necessary to take the case to court. Personal injury lawyers work on a contingency basis, which means that they do not collect a fee until the case is won.
