Accident on I-80 Claims Driver’s Life in Single-Vehicle Accident

A single-vehicle crash in Sacramento on February 27 resulted in the death of the driver. The accident was reported around 2:00 a.m. along Interstate 80 near Madison Avenue. According to a spokesperson from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, when their crews responded to the call about the accident, they discovered a white sedan wrapped around a large tree.

Accident Being Investigated to Determine Cause

A portion of the sedan was found some distance from the car. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The accident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) to determine its cause.

Losing Someone You Love

It’s a terrible moment when we find out we’ve lost someone we love. Sometimes, it’s expected, but a lot of the time, it’s not. For instance, learning that a loved one died because of the negligence of another driver is probably the furthest thing in a family member’s mind. Whenever it occurs, family and friends want to know why it happened. When there has been a death caused by a single-vehicle crash, it is especially difficult to answer because the only one who is able to respond is unable to speak for themselves.

How a Personal Injury Lawyer Can Help

It is in this situation that a law firm with an investigative team can help decipher what happened. Using accident reconstruction techniques, they walk through a variety of scenarios to determine what happened at the crash scene.

  • If a hit-and-run driver caused the single-vehicle crash and fled the scene, that can be determined. If a hit-and-run driver was the cause, investigators can search for that motorist and vehicle to hold them responsible. Accident reconstruction can be performed, which often indicates fault, area video cameras can be examined and witnesses sought to support your family’s claim for compensation.
  • A defective auto part can cause a single-vehicle collision. If the vehicle has been retained, as it should be, it can be examined by our engineers to look for defects. If a defect, such as in the brakes or accelerator, is the culprit, the manufacturer can be held responsible by filing an auto product liability claim

Taking Legal Action for Wrongful Death

Grief and helplessness are common initially among the family, and they may even blame themselves. They often have to face financial hardship due to the loss of support provided by the decedent. Filing a lawsuit may be helpful for many during this hard time. No wrongful death lawsuit can erase the pain they feel or make up for the loss of their loved one, but it will help them move on financially. With the help of an injury lawyer, a family may be able to reclaim the following damages:

  • Expenses associated with the funeral and burial are recoverable.
  • Upon the death of the deceased, the lost income and benefits that the decedent would have provided up until they retired can be recovered.
  • It is possible to recover compensation for the support, education and guidance that the decedent provided.
  • Loss of consortium can be claimed by a spouse.
