12th Avenue Intersection Crash Occurs Between Two Vehicles
A July 13 Sacramento traffic accident may have been caused by an impaired driver that left one person injured. The accident was reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) at around 8:00 in the morning at 12th Avenue and 32nd Street and involved a Hyundai Santa Fe and a Ford F-250 pickup. The road was not blocked by the traffic accident because both drivers pulled over to the right-hand side.
Sacramento Traffic Accident Under Investigation to Determine Cause
Paramedics with the Sacramento Fire Department were called to the scene where one person involved was determined to have suffered a minor injury. Impaired driving has not been ruled out as a factor in the crash. The accident is under investigation by the CHP to determine the cause.
Delayed Symptoms Following an Accident
One of the reasons it is important for anyone involved in a Sacramento traffic accident to see their doctor or head to the emergency room afterward is because some injury symptoms can be delayed. This is due to the adrenaline surge the body experiences. Without documentation of the accident, it can become more difficult to place a compensation claim. The following potentially serious injuries are among those that can appear several days after a traffic accident:
- Head injuries: A concussion can begin with symptoms as mild as a headache or fogginess but progress to disorientation, vomiting, and memory loss. When symptoms arise, which can be up to several days later, a CT scan is usually performed to look for more serious problems.
- Shoulder injuries: Because of the shoulder belt that restrains you during a Sacramento traffic accident, it can also cause your body to twist and result in a shoulder injury. Injuries can range from bruising to a torn shoulder ligament. Because injuries to the shoulder may result in chronic pain and loss of movement, which worsens in time, it’s important to be checked out.
- Internal trauma: Bruising in the abdominal area and pain may be the first signs of trauma, which can indicate internal bleeding or damage to one of the organs. As symptoms get worse, the injured party may experience dizziness, fever, deepening bruises, or fainting. Internal injuries often result in emergency surgery to perform repairs because they can be life-threatening.
- Cervical sprain or strain: Commonly called whiplash, these types of injuries can be debilitating and cause chronic pain for a long period of time.
- Herniated disc: Back injuries may mean a herniated disc, which may not become painful for weeks or even months following an accident. However, a herniated disc can cause pain on movement, limited motion, and other problems that can cause a permanent disability.
Why Insurance Companies Want a Fast Settlement
Insurance companies are interested in making a fast, easy settlement. This is why their first offer is usually a low one. If they can get the claimant to accept their low settlement, the injured party cannot come back on the insurance company later for more money, even though it may only be the start of the expenses they will have to pay out-of-pocket. At AutoAccident.com, we won’t let this happen. We will calculate all your damages, including long-term expenses, so you will obtain the compensation you deserve.
