State Route 99 Accident Causes at Least One Injury
A Sacramento traffic accident involving five vehicles happened on June 18 that resulted in at least one injury. The collision occurred at a shopping center along northbound SR 99 just south of the 12th Avenue off-ramp in the North City Farms area of Sacramento shortly before 8:30 in the evening. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that a Honda CRV, Chevy Cruz, Ford Focus, Acura, and Ford van were all involved in the crash, which blocked the roadway.
Vehicle Hits Center Divide and Swerves Across the Traffic Lanes
The report stated that an SUV crashed into the center divider and swerved across the lanes to end up on the right-hand side. Two of the vehicles had to be towed from the scene, and at least one injury was reported. The lanes were clear at 9:43 p.m. An investigation by the CHP is being conducted to determine fault in the accident.
Negligence as a Cause of a Sacramento Traffic Accident
One vehicle is often responsible for the beginning of a multiple-vehicle crash. However, that doesn’t mean the first driver is the only one who may be found negligent. When other drivers crash into an accident up ahead, some of the reasons they may share fault in a Sacramento traffic accident include:
- A driver is tailgating and cannot stop fast enough to avoid a crash with vehicles up ahead.
- A speeder sees the Sacramento traffic accident up ahead but loses control of their car trying to stop and ends up crashing into other vehicles.
- A motorist is texting or talking on their cell phone and doesn’t notice the accident up ahead until it’s too late to react.
- The driver has had a long day at work and is fatigued, which makes it more difficult to concentrate on the surrounding traffic.
- A drunk driver spots the accident ahead but can’t judge the distance and has blurred vision, which ends up with them becoming involved in the traffic accident.
Seeking Advice From a Sacramento Car Accident Injury Lawyer
Over the years, my legal team and I have successfully obtained compensation for many people who were injured in a Sacramento traffic accident. We do this by gathering the evidence needed to determine the parties who are at fault and determine liability. Some of the procedures of an investigation include:
- Investigators perform accident reconstruction to determine the positioning of the vehicles before the Sacramento traffic accident occurs, how they collided, and how they ended up. This helps point toward fault.
- The police report is checked for errors.
- Witness statements are taken.
- Roadway cameras are examined to see if the accident was captured on video. This compelling evidence is useful during insurance company negotiations on behalf of the client or in a court case.
- The area itself is examined to see if government negligence contributed to the collision. If it did, the government entity charged with maintaining the roadway, such as Caltrans, can be held liable for accident injuries.
Our injury attorneys use the gathered evidence to build a case that supports our client’s claim for compensation.
