Accident on Caymus Drive Caused by Hit-and-Run Driver
A traffic collision in Sacramento involved a minor on a bicycle who was struck by a hit-and-run driver on March 11. The accident happened outside Maeola Beitzel Elementary School at Brittany Park and Caymus drives at around 12:35 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) report. The school district established that the teen was a student in the area.
Minor Hospitalized in Critical Condition
Emergency crews with the fire department responded to the traffic collision as well as safety and security teams with the school district, and the family was contacted. The teen was hospitalized in critical condition. Authorities are seeking the hit-and-run driver, who was reportedly driving a white SUV when they struck the bicycle rider.
A Traffic Collision Involving a Hit-and-Run
When a pedestrian is hit by a vehicle and left by a hit-and-run driver, the injured party wonders how to pay for their medical bills, lost wages and compensation for their suffering. It is possible to locate and hold the driver responsible for the accident injury suffered by a walker through an insurance claim or a court judgment. My firm has been able to find hit-and-run drivers in many cases. We want to hear from you as soon as possible to make sure that the evidence is not covered over or removed by passing traffic.
Using Your Uninsured/Underinsured Coverage
We can assist you in collecting damages through uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. All California drivers are eligible for this type of coverage. If anyone living in the pedestrian’s household has this type of insurance, the injury will be covered even if the bicycle rider does not have it. Insurance rates will not be affected by using this add-on coverage. Automobile, motorcycle, bicycle, or pedestrian accidents are covered.
The Benefits of Consulting a Personal Injury Attorney
Bicyclists who have been injured in a hit-and-run accident can seek compensation with the help of a personal injury lawyer. Investigators are dispatched to the accident scene immediately to look for evidence that can locate the vehicle and driver, including:
- During the investigation, investigators check the police report for mistakes.
- The site of the traffic collision is photographed, including the capture of dropped pieces of paint from the vehicle and metal shards. Because colors are specific to the make and model of a vehicle, they can be used to help identify it.
- In order to identify the driver or vehicle, witnesses are interviewed. Witnesses often remember a portion of a license plate number or can describe the driver.
- Video footage from area traffic cameras and business cameras is examined by the investigators. If the accident was captured on film, it can be subpoenaed and provides compelling evidence to identify the driver in the traffic collision.
- To explain how the accident occurred, the investigators conduct accident reconstruction. This type of evidence, used both by insurance companies and in court, demonstrates how the traffic collision occurred and often points toward fault.
Following evidence collection, our attorneys prepare a strong claim for personal injury compensation on behalf of the injured client.
