Crash Occurs on El Camino Avenue in Sacramento
A traffic collision in Sacramento on October 6 involving three vehicles resulted in minor injuries. The crash occurred around 9:21 in the morning along El Camino Avenue just east of Watt Avenue in the area of Arden-Arcade. The police report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said a Honda, Mazda, and another unknown vehicle were involved, and a tow truck had to retrieve one car due to serious damage.
More Information About the Traffic Collision
Sacramento Fire Department responders arrived to assess injuries to those involved in the Arden-Arcade accident. Although they determined the injuries appeared to be minor, there is no word on whether any individuals were taken to a hospital for additional evaluation. The CHP is investigating the accident to find out how it occurred and to assign fault.
Delayed Symptoms Following a Traffic Accident
Because the body is flooded with adrenaline after a traffic collision, a person who is involved may feel as though they are uninjured or only suffered minor scrapes and bruises. However, several days later, they may discover that symptoms are arising that can indicate a serious medical problem. This is one of the reasons it is important to see a doctor or head to the emergency room after any traffic collision. It not only documents the accident but gives the attending physician a baseline to work from later.
Lack of proof that you were in an accident by being examined afterward by a physician may affect your ability to file for injury compensation later. Some injuries that can occur with delayed symptoms following a traffic collision include:
- Headache: An individual involved in a car crash does not have to strike their head to cause headaches. It may be a symptom of concussion, cervical strain or sprain, a pinched nerve, or more serious problems.
- Cervical strain or sprain: The most common problem following a car accident, whiplash, is caused by the head being violently thrust forward and back during the impact of a traffic collision. In more severe cases, the symptoms can last up to a year and impact the patient’s ability to live a normal life and work.
- Back pain: Pain in the back can mean damage to the muscles, ligaments or vertebrae. These types of injuries are more common in T-bone and rear-end accidents and can even happen at low speeds.
- Abdominal injuries: Injuries to the abdomen may be caused by the seat belt or by the body striking the interior of the vehicle. Bruising, headaches, fainting, and dizziness may indicate an abdominal injury.
- Tingling and numbness: Tingling or numbness may indicate problems with the neck or spinal column, which can indicate a herniated disk.
How a Traffic Collision Investigation is Carried Out
In cases that involve a personal injury, it must be proven that a negligent party was the cause of a client’s injuries. This is where our experienced investigators step in. They go to the accident site to collect the evidence needed to support our client’s claim, which can include:
- Checking for errors in the police report and interviewing the witnesses to take their statements
- Performing accident reconstruction, which shows how the traffic collision occurred and can point to negligence by the at-fault party
- Looking for road, business, and traffic surveillance cameras that may have filmed the traffic collision
- Checking for government negligence such as a blocked sign, malfunctioning traffic signal, poor lighting, and others
