Two-Vehicle Accident on Westbound US 50 Results in an Injury

A two-vehicle accident occurred in Sacramento on August 11, along westbound US 50 that resulted in an injury. The collision happened around 5:14 p.m. near the 15th Street entrance ramp and involved a Ford pickup and a gray SUV. According to the report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), an ambulance was requested at the scene by one of the individuals involved in the two-vehicle accident because of dizziness. First responders with Sac Fire arrived to evaluate that person and transport them to a nearby hospital.

Being Checked After a Two-Vehicle Accident

It is important for someone who has been involved in a car accident to get checked in an emergency room or by a physician afterward, even if they have no symptoms. Symptoms of an injury can be delayed following a crash because adrenaline rushes into the body due to the heightened excitement. This can mask injury symptoms that arise later.

Dizziness as a Symptom Following a Traffic Accident

Dizziness can have a number of different causes, which should be checked by a physician. Some of the reasons a person can feel dizzy could be due to the following:

  • Concussion: Concussion is a form of traumatic brain injury. It may be mild in some and heal quickly. In others, healing can take a much longer period of time. Symptoms can include headache, dizziness, loss of consciousness, nausea, slurred speech, and others. A concussion may also present with delayed symptoms even weeks later. This is one of the reasons it is important to get checked.
  • Cervical strain or sprain: In a motor vehicle crash, the sudden impact can cause the head to snap back and forth quickly, causing damage or strain. Commonly called whiplash, it can cause dizziness and vertigo, headaches, pain in the arms, shoulders or neck, stiffness, and loss of range of motion. The amount of time it takes cervical strain or sprain to heal varies with the individual. With some, it heals in five or six weeks. In others, symptoms may be long-lasting and can continue for years.

Accident Investigations

If someone is injured by a negligent driver, they often decide to claim compensation to pay their medical expenses and for their lost wages and pain and suffering. However, an investigation has to be conducted to prove that it was the fault of the other motorist. Our investigative team interviews the witnesses to the two-vehicle accident and checks for mistakes in the police report.

They perform accident reconstruction and look for cameras in the area that might have filmed the collision as it happened. In addition, they check for signs of neglect by the government entity in charge of maintenance. There are times when a faulty traffic light, overgrown foliage, debris in the road, and other factors come into play.

In these instances, the government entity charged with upkeep can be held responsible. Because the statute of limitations is much shorter when filing a government claim, it is important to have an experienced Sacramento personal injury lawyer by your side. This ensures that your paperwork will be completed correctly and filed on time.

Our experienced legal team takes over once all the evidence has been gathered in the client’s case. They can use it when conducting negotiations on the client’s behalf with the insurance company or in preparing to take it to court.
